Silo tipping is a receiving unit for sludge, waste and other materials. It is an alternative to a rod feeder silo. A conventional receiving unit needs a pit or a ramp to function, while this is not necessary for a Silo Tipper.

It is mounted on bearings with the ability to be lifted and rotated by means of two hydraulic cylinders. It is equipped with a screw feeder at a height of 1.5 metres that feeds sludge to a unit for further treatment (e.g. centrifugal dryer).
When the sludge (mass) is unloaded from the lorry, the silo is in a horizontal position and when the silo is emptied, it is raised to a vertical position.
The screw spiral feeds the material from the silo through the screw pipe that runs from the silo top wall to the next unit's (the dryer's) inlet flange. The screw pipe is divided in two, one part that rotates with the silo when it is lifted/rotated and one part that is fixed to a neighbouring unit. The two parts are connected through a stuffing box that acts as an external seal.
The screw spiral has a core tube inside the silo and is coreless inside the outlet tube. This is to have great flexibility to handle different types of materials. The spiral continues from the pipe through the wall to neighbouring equipment. This solution provides a safe material supply.
One side of the silo is equipped with a drainage nozzle connected to a hose to prevent overfilling. The silo's side walls are equipped with flushing nozzles on both sides for automatic cleaning after use.
The silo tipper is made of stainless steel.
The screw spiral is made of sandblasted and painted carbon steel.
