The t-shirts have already been printed and the mood is high. On 4 May - from 17:30 to 19:00 - the team from Tratec Solutions at Forus will take on the task. They hope that more people will join them.
- Once one of us reaches the top, the company will donate NOK 200 to the Norwegian Cancer Society. Each participant should be able to make at least ten trips up and down. The goal is to raise NOK 50,000," says initiator Tom Arne Urdal enthusiastically.
DURING PLANNING At the end of this year's team building event, the sales manager at Tratec Solutions had an idea. How about doing something completely different this time, something that makes sense beyond having fun together?
- "I've been following a former work colleague's battle with cancer for some time. The way he handles the disease is impressive, and I wish we could show our support in some way," says Urdal.
HE CAME TO to think of Hanatrappene, a well-known cultural monument and landmark in Sandnes, which with its 306 steps is claimed to be the world's longest concrete staircase.
- Why don't we run up and down it and make the company pay for every time we reach the top? Not only is it good exercise and socialising. We'll also be able to support a good cause," says Urdal.
The response was overwhelming, both from management and employees. Of the 30 employees at the Tratec Solutions branch office at Forus, more than 20 have so far signed up.
IN ADDITION, THE several from the top management of Tratec, which is a southern Norwegian industrial group with around 380 employees and a turnover of almost NOK 800 million in 2021.
- A project like this is rewarding for the employees to participate in and helps to create a good company culture," says Martin Haga, head of the Tratec Solution office.
The Deputy Mayor of Sandnes, Pål Morten Borgli, will also be at the event on 4 May. The Norwegian Cancer Society will also have its own stand.
- "The fact that Tratec Solution is using its team building to help us is something we really appreciate. Perhaps this initiative will inspire other companies to do the same," says Nina Hansen, Marketing Consultant at the Norwegian Cancer Society.
