Tratec Solutions secures historic turnkey contract for Yara at Herøya

With a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour and a 50-metre-high tower, Tratec is now gearing up for one of its biggest deliveries ever.
Yara

Tratec Solutions has recently been awarded a contract by Yara for the final phase of a turnkey contract for the delivery of a new raw material access from the PHV quay to existing silos at Herøya Industrial Park in Porsgrunn. The infeed track is a renewal of a previous infeed track and will have a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour. It is designed to handle many different types of raw materials and is designed to withstand a relatively harsh environment. There is a strong focus on minimising downtime in connection with the implementation of the new line. Implementation of the new line. At the centre of the line is a new tower, almost 50m high, which will contain a beaker to lift the mass up to the height of the silo tops.

"We have worked our way into the details through several phases and have spent the last seven months doing detailed engineering and have just finished production drawings. The order now is for the phase where the purchase and installation of the drive-in line will be done.

The project is divided into 5 packages:

  • Tower foundation
  • Towers and goblets
  • Conveyor bridge and foundation on silo top
  • Reconstruction of conveyor and culvert silo top
  • Rebuilding of distribution centre

Together with Yara, Tratec has in the planning phase had a strong focus on HSE both for the implementation of the delivery and in future service and maintenance of the plant. Great emphasis has been placed on optimising the flow of goods through the plant and ensuring that the plant is easy to maintain. At the end of the installation period, there will be a critical phase in which there will be a short shutdown of the plant. It is of the utmost importance that the shutdown is short so that it does not jeopardise Yara's production plan more than planned.

For Tratec Solutions, this is one of the largest deliveries we've ever had, and we expect to spend a total of around 20,000 of our own hours on the delivery, in addition to the many subcontractors who have and are involved in the project.
