Tratec is supplying a new container-based handling system for seabed seismic surveys

Tratec Solutions and Tratec Norcon have delivered a new, robust system for the automatic handling of seismic nodes. The fast-track delivery comprises three containers designed to ensure efficient and safe loading and data management on board seismic vessels in challenging environments.
Containerised handling system for seabed seismics

Tratec Solutions, in collaboration with Tratec Norcon, has recently delivered a new container-based handling system for seismic nodes to a customer in the seabed seismic sector.

The system has been developed and optimised in close collaboration with the customer over time, with the aim of ensuring a robust, efficient, and secure solution. The delivery was carried out as a fast-track contract, and the system has now been handed over after a thorough testing period at our workshop in Forus.

The system consists of three containers to be used on board ships, and it handles automatic node management during the charging and uploading of data before and after subsea operations.

During the planning phase, there has been a strong focus on robustness, reliability, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), both in the execution of the delivery and with regard to the future operation of the plant. Emphasis has been placed on material selection, mechanical stability, and a new control program designed to ensure optimal long-term operation.

This is a new order for Tratec Solutions, which has previously supplied several similar container-based systems for handling nodes in seabed seismic surveys. The first system was delivered way back in 2012. The deliveries include, amongst other things, robots, hoists and transport equipment for the safe handling of nodes on a moving surface on board vessels in operation. Automation and HMI for controlling the systems are also included as part of the deliveries.

For Tratec Solutions, this is a significant achievement in an exciting market niche. The project demonstrates our ability to deliver efficient unit logistics even in highly challenging environments.
