Christiansholm Fortress in Kristiansand is one of the city's most iconic cultural monuments. The building dates back to the 17th century and today serves as an arena for art, cultural events and various events.
When the fortress's lighting was to be upgraded, this placed special demands on both aesthetics and technical customisation.
Hos Tratec Teknikken we are proud to work closely with Light components AS and Kristiansand municipality about delivering a lighting solution that both honours the historical expression and provides flexibility for modern use.
Customised to the unique geometry of the building
Christiansholm Fortress has a distinctive architecture with a rounded shape and robust vaulted ceilings - something that challenges standard lighting solutions. To create a solution that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, a customised lighting configuration was developed specifically for this space.
The solution consists of two focussed light rings that follow the shape of the room:
- Inner ring with a diameter of approx. 18 metres
- Outer ring with a diameter of approx. 24 metres
These rings are integrated into the ceiling zone so that the light is distributed evenly and comfortably without the luminaires dominating the visual impression. The result is harmonious, flexible lighting that supports both architecture and activity in the room.
Flexibility for varying applications
After the upgrade, the fortress now has a lighting system that can be customised for different types of use:
from exhibitions and smaller cultural gatherings to larger events with a need for varied brightness and atmosphere. The solution is both user-friendly and operationally efficient.
Good co-operation
This project was carried out in collaboration with Light components AS and Kristiansand municipality, where Tratec Teknikken was responsible for the installation and Lyskomponenter AS was responsible for the design and delivery of the lighting.
Together, we have developed a lighting solution that helps to enhance an important cultural building - both visually and functionally.
